I've been away visiting my mom and dad in Michigan. I had very limited access to the internet there -- hence, the dearth of blogging. However, I did get a lot of knitting in and even made some yarn acquisitions. The week before I left, I had won a couple ebay auctions for Cotton-Ease. I never imagined that it would arrive in time to take along so I was having a hard time making my travel knitting plans. Lo and behold, the Cotton-Ease got here the day before I flew out so my dilemma was resolved. I'm using Joan McGowan-Michael's Shapely Tee from White Lies Designs to help me up-size Alison Hansel's Nothin' but a T-Shirt pattern from MagKnits. I'm making it in the ringer tee style (sans logo) using Ice Blue for the body and Blueberry for the trim. As you can see, I've also decided to knit it in the round since I had such success doing that with the Donna pattern.
Speaking of Donna, I completed that the weekend before I left for Michigan so I was able to show it off to my parents who were suitably impressed. ;) I'm very happy with it myself. It came through the washer and dryer beautifully. It's extremely comfortable and fits perfectly.
While in Michigan, I discovered a newly opened Tuesday Morning store within walking distance of my parents' place. Of course, I had to go in and see if they had any of the increasingly elusive Cotton-Ease. I ended up needing to find room in my suitcase for 6 skeins each of Bubblegum, Banana Cream, Pistachio, and Popsical Blue. I don't have specific plans for any of this yet. Presumably, the feminine colors and suitability for San Diego weather will equate to more sweaters for me since I'm the only girl here I'd knit for!
Last night, we went to see The Brothers Grimm. I thought it was a pretty strange and fairly silly little film. The most entertaining part for me was simply trying to count up the number of fairy tales subtly and not-so-subtly referred to.
your Donna top looks great! and you scored big on the CE. =)
