For the first time in years, I plan to use a crochet hook for more than just an extra tool for my knitting. When I saw the Crochet-Sleeved Tee in the September 2006 issue of Crochet!, I knew it would be a great way to recycle one of my favorite old t-shirts which has a faded spot on the sleeve. The pattern has you cut the sleeves off a tee and replace them with long, crocheted mesh versions. Then a crochet trim is added to the neck and hem to pull it all together. The only problem is that the pattern uses a plain drop-shoulder t-shirt so the crocheted sleeves have absolutely no shaping at the top. Whereas, the t-shirt I want to use has set-in sleeves so I will have to create a sleeve cap using the cut off sleeves as a template. Leave it to me to set up a challenge for myself, instead of just easing back into a craft I haven't practiced in ages.
