While surfing around, I came across this adorable crocheted Harry Potter Bookmark and thought it would be fun to knit one. I'm basically going to mimic the fantastically authentic-looking pattern over at atypically.knit for a mini version of the Prisoner of Azkaban style scarf. At first I wondered where I would find yarn in the right weight and colors. Also, I don't exactly need yards and yards for this project. Then I thought of DMC embroidery floss which comes in little six-strand skeins in hundreds of colors. Instead of separating the strands as you do for cross-stitch, I will just hold them together as one for knitting. I just happen to have some in garnet (815) and gold (781) which should work out quite nicely. Now I need to get started so I'll have my bookmark all set for when Harry's back in 21 days!
