A few weeks ago, I decided to subscribe to Vogue Knitting since I often end up buying a copy off the newsstand anyway. Today I received the Winter 2005/06 issue and planned to write about which patterns I'd be knitting. Well, there was only one sweater that I really liked, and I don't know that I'd actually wear it. (For those following along with their own copy, it's pattern 13.) I absolutely love the overall design which features a ribbed body and sleeves transitioning into a cabled yoke. However, the funnel neck would probably bother me, and I don't particularly like the zipper which is set into one of the raglan seams. Although I suspect the latter is less of a stylistic element than a requirement of the former. Another small deterrent is that I would have to work out a larger size -- which shouldn't be difficult, but do I really like it well enough to bother? Otherwise, one or two patterns might have potential with some tweaking, and a glance at the articles gives me hope that subscribing was worth it.
I can't get Vogue Knitting ANYWHERE in Munich. It's frustrating. I tried
the shop at the main train station, at the east train station (those are
the two main international book shops) and tonight at the airport (no, I
was seeing someone off. I wouldn't just go to the airport to browse the
books)...and they haven't got it either! *grrrr*
Hmmm... I liked that sweater and had it on my "someday I should knit this"
list - but now that you pointed out the zipper, I'm not so sure. I didn't
notice that in the magazine. I wonder if I could put it on the back? I'll
have to ponder this more now.
