Yesterday I looked at my current works, the day before I looked at past works, and today I look toward the future.
Possible projects for 2006:
- A zip-front Rogue - I've wanted to make one of these for ages. Since I'm positive I will eventually be making it, this potential project has had its own category on my blog almost since the day I started knit blogging.
- Crochet - I haven't made any crochet items in years, but I'd like to find something to get my hooks into this year.
- More socks - I think it would be wonderful to have a whole wardrobe of handknit socks someday.
- A shrug - Having moved to San Diego from Florida, I was surprised to discover that it can get a little chilly here even in the middle of Summer. A shrug would be the perfect solution to toss on over a t-shirt as needed.
- A pillow and/or throw out of Patons Bohemian - As leery as I am about knitting with this stuff, it is insanely soft, and John loves to pet it whenever we come across it in the craft store.
- Instrument cases - John has a didgeridoo and a couple handmade flutes. I've often thought that a few adjustments to a yoga mat bag pattern would make perfect carrying cases for these. Namaste from the latest issue of knitty especially caught my eye. The pattern in Amy Singer's Knit Wit
is also a possibility.
- A bag knit from mason twine - I picked up a spool of this from Home Depot ages ago and had thought of making knitty's Kitchen Sink with it, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
- Felting/fulling - Whatever you call it and whatever the project (maybe slippers, maybe a bag), I'd just like to try this neat trick with wool.
- Beaded stitch markers - Dangerous waters which could potentially turn into another full-fledged hobby. I'll have to tread carefully here.
- More Cotton-Ease short-sleeve pullovers - I've stocked up enough of the discontinued Cotton-Ease to make a few more sweaters similar to Donna and Nothin' But a T-Shirt. Inspired by some of the creations I discovered while browsing the archives of nona's knit along, I'm thinking of making a very girly top with ruffled edges and an intarsia flower.
- The last issue of Family Circle Easy Knitting (Holiday 2005) had a cable section with a couple cardigans I've put under consideration.
- More Christmas decorations - I'd like to make some knitted and/or crocheted ornaments. Plus, it would be nice to upgrade our Christmas stockings, which I worked up really quickly a couple years ago, to some with fancier colorwork and/or texture.
- A lace project - I'm contemplating a shrug or a cardigan as I believe I would get more use out of that than a shawl. I've collected some links to free online patterns over on my new linkblog. I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for, but these patterns have my head spinning with ideas.
- Knitting or crocheting with beads - I checked Lily Chin's Knit and Crochet with Beads
out of the library a while back and was definitely inspired.
- The obligatory Kool-aid dyeing project - I showed John the entry over at Alison's blue blog chronicling her experiments with this process, and he found it pretty fascinating. I think we'd have fun, and John might be a bit more helpful than Alison's boys were for her. ;)
Well, that's everything I can think of for the nonce. At my current rate of production, that ought to keep me busy for the next several years. I better get cranking.
