Day 1 of Take 2 on the Apartment Search

Today we went back and looked at some apartments that we had passed by in our earlier search.  Not because these places aren't as nice, just because we didn't want to make ourselves crazy by looking at too many places.  We found one that has definite possibilities, but we are trying very hard not to get our hopes up too much.

Oh, and it is John's Birthday!  I had actually given him his present a couple weeks ago.  It was a special limited edition copy of A Game of Thrones by one of our favorite authors, George R. R. Martin.  It is illustrated by Jeffery Jones and Charles Keegan and signed by the author and both artists.  A small, independent publisher, Meisha Merlin, will eventually publish special editions of Martin's entire A Song of Fire and Ice series.  The next volume will have artwork by my favorite Tolkien illustrator, John Howe, and one of the later books will have John's favorite, Ted Nasmith.  As you can see, this book and the ones to follow are actually just as much a present for me as for him!

To celebrate, we went out for a good old steak dinner.  We didn't make it to dessert so no birthday cake or cheesecake as would have been the case.  But what can you expect when you start out with a big mound of cheese fries?
