Nothin' But a Shapely Tee

posted 10 July 2006, Monday

I actually finished and took this picture of my Nothin' But a T-Shirt back in March, but I just recently rescued the image from my digital camera which was packed away for our move shortly after the photo shoot. If you've been following my progress on this project, then you already know (in excruciating detail) all the tweaks I've made. For those of you just tuning in, I'll hit the highlights:

  • Substituted Lion Brand Cotton-Ease in Ice Blue and Blueberry.
  • Tailored the fit by up-sizing the pattern, adjusting the placement of the waist shaping, and adding short-row shaping at the bust.
  • Knitted in the round up to the armscye on the body and the cap shaping on the sleeves.
  • Added shaping to the hemmed neckline finishing in order to make it lie smoother.
I also did a few other things in a slightly different manner simply because I like to do things my own way and because I have a hard time following a pattern to the letter for very long. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Not surprising, in light of the lengthy production I made out of what should have been a quick, simple knit. All worth it in the end. If you are considering making this sweater, then I highly recommend taking a look through the archives of the knit-along which nona hosted last summer -- very inspiring and helpful.

Lovely fit on the T! I like the contrast color on the collar and sleeves

Hi Laura, I love the colors of this T-shirt! I'm new to knitting/blogging in San Diego. I don't think I've met you (yet!?)

I put an updated list of San Diego knitting events on my blog. There are a few I'm not certain about. Could you check them out and let me know if you know anything about them? Do you go to any S&Bs?

Thanks,

Jill

Oh, PLEASE share the modifications to made to the pattern to size it up and knitting in the round. Whatever thoughts and stitch counts will do. I just copied the pattern and the largest size available won't go aroung 'the girls'. I also have LOTS of Cotton Ease and this would be perfect.
