Having finished my Entrelac Pillow and not having the yarn to continue my Boundless Blue Blanket, I found myself in search of something to knit with supplies I happen to have on hand. This is actually more limiting than you may think. Unlike many knitters, I don't have a second hobby of yarn collecting. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!) I just buy yarn with specific projects in mind. If a yarn doesn't end up working out in the project for which it was intended, then it bugs me until I figure out something else to do with it. (Does anyone else have this problem?) Therefore, going through the meager left-over odds and ends of my stash was quick work, but I did come across a whole skein of Lion Brand Micro Spun in the color Lilac. John actually bought this awhile ago just for me to experiment with. I've been thinking it would make a nice pouch for my set of
Goddesses Knowledge Cards which are beautifully illustrated by
Susan Seddon Boulet. Since I bought them second-hand, they didn't even come in a box and are therefore unceremoniously held together with a rubberband. They certainly deserve better so I have decided to make them a little draw-string pouch of my own design. The game plan is to knit it in the round from the top down. I will do a provisional cast-on and place yarn overs appropriately on each side to accommodate the drawstring. Then after I've knitted enough for the casing, I will fold the open cast-on stitches to the inside and knit them together with the stitches on the needle. After reaching the right length, I will close up the bottom with a 3-needle bind off. Now that I have a new project, I will be able to make it through the weekend General Hospital marathon on
SoapNet without getting too fidgety!
