My Love's Gloves

posted 9 January 2006, Monday

These gloves were completed a few weeks ago, but I finally managed to get a picture of them modeled by the recipient today. Knitting of the second glove went very quickly and smoothly. Since I cast on for the second right after weaving in the ends on the first, I remembered all the tricks I'd learned and felt like I really knew what I was doing this time around. The only differences being that I knit all five fingers to full-length and the thumb placement. For the left-hand glove the first half of the round is the palm, whereas the palm was the second half of the round on the right-hand glove. Therefore, I started the thumb gusset a few stitches before the end of the second needle on this glove, instead of a few stitches into the third needle as I did before.

I'm very pleased to add glove-knitting to my list of knitting accomplishments. Thanks to nona's Peaceful Palms Knit Along for inspiring me to finally do so. My guy is also very happy to have a pair of custom-fit, custom-made gloves. Next pair will be for me!

Congratulations, very nice gloves. And how happy you are that they are not only well received but even modelled! They are looking great and I'm hoping you have fun knitting some for yourself next time.
