I have been very intrigued by entrelac knitting ever since I first came across it. I love how it looks like woven strips of knitting. Therefore, I have decided that I simply must have an entrelac pillow or two. The reason this topic comes up is because there is a pattern for one in the same issue of Cast On (Winter 2004) as the sweater I'm currently neglecting.
Now this pattern calls for Lion Brand Homespun and Chenille Thick & Quick. I understand from passionate discussions on the knitlist that the former is something you either love or hate. I have yet to discover which camp I belong to since I usually fall for smoother types (of yarn, that is). As for the later, I'm hoping I don't discover what the heck people mean by "worming" when they talk about knitting chenille. I don't know if this only happens with certain types of chenille or if it is a possible evil to be dealt with in any type.
I actually have some of the chenille in royal blue. My boyfriend gifted me with this and some other very soft and intensely colored yarns. He did this half jokingly just because he knew I would never expect him to actually go yarn shopping without being dragged reluctantly along on one of my expeditions. I thought it was pretty sweet of him.
At any rate, I have part of the required yarn and I'm sure I can easily find some compatible Homespun. Since they are bulky yarns and this is a small project, I figure it's worth a try. And I just might end up with a pretty, petable pillow!
