Witness the return of Lion Brand Cotton-Ease. Apparently, the powers-that-be heard enough clamoring at the demise of this yarn to decide it was worth their while to start making it again. They also must have concluded that the raucous range of colors it previously came in may have been a factor in its downfall because the new color palette is much more subtle and sophisticated. I will miss a few of the old colors, but luckily I have some stashed away. Good riddance, however, to Hunter's Vest Orange and Caution Tape Yellow. (Okay, they referred to those colors, respectively, as Orangeade and Pineapple, but I think my names are much more apt.) More basic type yarns and natural fibers amongst Lion Brand's new offerings are other indications that they are starting to listen to what the more dedicated knitters and crocheters want, instead of the one-scarf wonders. I will be curious to lay my eyes and hands on these yarns once they start appearing in my local craft stores. Will the new Cotton-Ease be the same as the old? What will a mohair and silk blend or 100% cashmere from Lion Brand actually feel like? The mind reels.
